Employee Appreciation and Hokie Wellness Fair

Faculty, staff, and non-student wage employees, local to the Blacksburg campus and surrounding region are invited to attend the Employee Appreciation and Hokie Wellness Fair on Wednesday, May 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Lane Stadium.

Employees should bring their Hokie Passport or Employee ID number to check in at the event. Note: This is an employee-only event; family members will not be able to attend.

Lunch

A complimentary buffet-style lunch will be available in the West concourse and South end zone and will include:

Various dietary options like baked chicken, hamburgers, Beyond Meat burgers, potato salad, pasta salad, coleslaw, and fruit
A gluten-free station with hamburgers and Beyond Meat burgers on gluten-free rolls, salads, and brownies
Last but not least, ice cream at Gate 3!

Please note: A higher volume is expected between 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Hokie Wellness Fair

The fair, co-sponsored by Grant Irby, Realtor and Warm Hearth Village, will host a wide variety of benefits, health and wellness, and approximately 60 exhibitors. Wellness Fair events include:

Blacksburg Pharmacy will provide the following vaccinations: Pneumococcal/pneumonia, Shingles, Tetanus/whooping cough, Covid-19, and Hepatitis A and B. Registration is not required - walk-ups welcome.
Health screenings
15 minute massages selected by lottery due to limited space. Please complete this form by May 15 to register for a chance to participate.
The Virginia Tech Transportation Institute’s (VTTI) Sharing the Road with Trucks program will also lead a demonstration where you get to sit in the driver’s seat of a Virginia Tech-themed semi-truck. Participants will have the chance to witness the unique challenges truck driver’s face and learn more about how to drive in harmony with trucks in the process. Participants will be selected by lottery due to limited space. Please complete this form by May 15 to register for a chance to join.

Food Drive

In the spirit of Ut Prosim, Hokie Wellness will once again be sponsoring a food drive for The Market of Virginia Tech. This service is designed to provide food assistance to students who, for whatever reason, have a hard time obtaining regular, healthy meals. This situation could be the result of a short-term disruption in finances, residing in a food desert, or a lack of access to other financial assistance. The Market appreciates all non-perishable items, but could use: Rice/Dry grains, peanut butter, jelly/jam, cooking oils, canned protein (tuna, chicken, etc.), easy prep meals and snacks, canned vegetables, canned beans, baking ingredients, and granola bars. **They do not need chicken noodle soup.**

Those who contribute will be entered into a raffle for a 40-ounce Stanley Quencher.

Blood Drive

The American Red Cross will host a blood drive in the south end zone, east club room. Register to donate!

Parking/ADA entrance

Employees do not need a parking permit to attend the event and can park in Lane Stadium Lot 2. There are ADA spaces available in the stadium lot on the South end of Lane Stadium. Lane Stadium Gate 2, directly across from the ADA spaces, serves as the ADA entrance. All others can enter through gate 3.
