Administrative Professional (A/P) Faculty Award
Created in 2022 to recognize the extraordinary contributions, accomplishments, and consistent excellence in the performance of their jobs, a single incident, or heroic act of Administrative and Professional (A/P) faculty at the university.
Governor's Award
The state-sponsored Governor’s Awards recognize and reward deserving employees and provide the public with an opportunity to learn more about the work state employees do every day on behalf of the citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Like other state agencies, Virginia Tech nominates university employees for this award each year. Virginia Tech’s nominees are selected by a committee of staff members and administrative and professional faculty members appointed by the president. Recipients receive a $500 (pre-taxed) award and are honored at a reception hosted by the Governor each summer.
McComas Staff Leadership Award
The McComas Staff Leadership Award recognizes non-student wage and staff (classified and university) employees who regularly demonstrates the behaviors of a strong leader in support of the goals of the university, senior management area, or department.
President's Award for Excellence
Initiated in 1990 by President James McComas, the President’s Award for Excellence was established to recognize the outstanding contributions and consistently excellent performance of salaried classified and university staff employees. Each recipient is awarded a $2,000 (pre-tax) cash prize.
Staff Career Achievement Award
Created in 2011 to recognize retiring staff members, the Staff Career Achievement Award is presented to individuals who have distinguished themselves through exemplary performance and service during their university career. Each recipient is awarded up to a $2,000 cash prize.
