2024 Climate Survey FAQs

Do I need to respond to all questions on the Climate Survey?
Employees may choose to skip any of the questions on the survey.

Is this survey confidential?
Yes, the survey content is kept in confidence and does not provide identifiable information. Employee data is not part of the survey, only responses to the survey questions. Names and identifiers are removed, and only aggregated data is reported. In addition, categories must have a minimum of 10 responses to be shared collectively.

Can I stop midway through the survey and come back to it later?
No, employees must complete the survey in one sitting.

How do I get a new survey link invitation?
Employees may email ClimateSurvey@vt.edu and request an updated link.

How can I take the survey if I do not have a Virginia Tech email address?
Employees who have not set up their Virginia Tech email address may use the paper survey or take the survey via the QR code provided on the flyer. To request a paper survey, email ClimateSurvey@vt.edu.

What will be done with this survey data when the survey closes?
Data will be compiled and analyzed from a university wide perspective and for each senior management area (SMA). The data will be shared with senior leaders and HR representatives will offer some recommendations for further discussion and training, where appropriate.

Are students invited to participate in the Climate Survey this year?
No, this Climate Survey is being conducted with employees. Undergraduate and graduate students will receive invitations to participate in separate surveys regarding the university’s climate.
