HAL IRVIN NAMED ASSOCIATE VICE PRESIDENT FOR HUMAN RESOURCES AT VIRGINIA TECH

Hal Irvin, Executive Director of Organizational Development at Georgia Tech, has been named Associate Vice President for Human Resources at Virginia Tech.
In this position, Irvin will provide leadership for Virginia Tech’s human resource strategies and services. Virginia Tech Human Resources serves the campus by providing support for recruitment

THE VIRGINIA TECH RESOURCE CENTER
The new Virginia Tech Resource Center, located in Collegiate Square is hosting a Brown Bag Wellness Series from April 18 – May 2. Topics include: Reconnecting with Kids: Answering Tough Questions, Taming Stress I: Making Sense of Sleep and Taming Stress II: Eat Well and Breathe! HUMAN RESOURCES SERVICE CENTER
As part of its commitment to providing excellent customer service to its employees, the Human Resources department will launch a new service center on Monday, March 31, 2008. The Virginia Tech Human Resources Service Center will become the primary point of contact for current, past, and future employees to get answers to all their HR related questions.
The HR Service Center is staffed with existing HR representatives that have multiple years of service and experience in the HR department at Virginia Tech. If employees contact HR either by phone, email, or walk-in, an experienced HR representative will be there to help them get the answers they need.
The primary phone number for the HR Service Center will be 231-9331 and will be open Monday through Friday, from 8:30am to 4:30pm EST. In addition to the 231-9331 number, several other existing HR phone numbers will also be answered by the HR Service Center. The HR Service Center will process all the emails that come into perserv@vt.edu, and will help all the people that walk into the HR office located in the Southgate Center.
More information on the HR Service Center and its capabilities will be made available over the next few months as the rollout continues.
JOB SEARCH 101
VT Human Resources and Career Services have teamed up to present a series of workshops to enhance job search skills for faculty, staff, students, and the community. All workshops are in Room 153, Southgate Center from 12:00pm to 1:00pm.
