Each year, Virginia Tech celebrates the hard work and dedication of its more than 3,400 staff, non-student wage employees, and emergency hires. Staff Appreciation Day was started in 1993 and continues to be held each May on the Wednesday following the university's commencement ceremonies.

This day gives staff an opportunity to tour campus facilities, view demonstrations, compete in friendly competition, and enjoy the company of fellow employees.

The event is hosted by the President's Office and the Division of Human Resources.

2018 Staff Appreciation Day

Staff Appreciation was held on May 16 in Owens Hall. This year marked the 25th anniversary of the celebration, which was started in 1993 and recognizes the dedication of Virginia Tech's more than 3,400 staff, including university and classified staff, non-student wage employees, and emergency hires.

This year, employees enjoyed a barbeque lunch, competed at the ever-popular bingo and Fabulous Feud Team Competition, and played some giant versions of popular games inside Owens. Not letting a little rain stop them, employees also participated in a horseshoe tournament and tours all across campus.

Thank you to our staff for your service and dedication to our university! We appreciate the work you do each and every day.
