University Recreation and Entertainment Opportunities
Most athletic events on campus are free, and discounted season tickets are available for men's basketball and football games. Employees with a faculty/staff parking permit may park in the designated lots and ride the shuttle for free.
The BreakZONE is the best place on campus to relax with your friends. Features include pool tables, bowling lanes with automatic scoring, and table tennis tables. So when you need a place to unwind: take a break in the ZONE!
Grab breakfast, lunch, or dinner at one of the nine award-winning dining centers on campus.
Salaried employees have the opportunity to play Intramural Sports. A participant must purchase a membership for a minimal cost and can then play any sport throughout the year.
Virginia Tech’s Moss Arts Center presents renowned artists from around the globe and from close to home, with a special focus on experiences that expand cultural awareness and deepen understanding. Uniquely partnered with the Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology, the Moss Arts Center houses the Street and Davis Performance Hall and its Anne and Ellen Fife Theatre, visual art galleries, the experimental venue the Cube, and research studios.
Recreational Sports provides all Virginia Tech employees free access to War Memorial gym. Bring your Hokie Passport to check into the facility. All new employees receive the opportunity to sign up for a 14-day trial membership at McComas Hall gym. To get your free trial started, please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. Both facilities have swimming pools that are open all year for open or lap swim. For small associated fees, all employees can also take advantage of our group exercise classes, small group training and personal training packages throughout the year. Recreational Sports offers swim lessons with certified instructors for children starting at six-month and for adults of all ages. Group, semi-private and private lessons are available year-round in four-week session formtat. Come learn how to swim with Recreational Sports.
Through a pilot program, full-time faculty, staff, and students of Virginia Tech receive a complimentary individual membership to the Taubman Museum of Art in Roanoke, Virginia through Oct. 31, 2020. Hokie Passports serve as the museum membership card. Membership benefits include:
- Free unlimited admission to ticketed exhibitions, the distinguished speaker series, the Interactive Participatory Gallery, and First Friday activities;
- Invitations to member preview days; and
- Discounts of 20 percent on classes and 10 percent at the museum café and gift shop.
Venture Out offers fun, safe, and educational outdoor services to students, faculty, and staff of Virginia Tech. Venture Out provides exciting outdoor trips, rental equipment, and serves as a resource for all outdoor adventure information.
War Memorial Chapel is available to students, faculty, staff, or visitors who need a calm, quiet place to get away from the everyday bustle of life-- to meditate, to pray, to sit quietly.
