VTRA - Virginia Tech Retiree's Association

The Virginia Tech Retiree's Association is a voluntary organization of retired Virginia Tech faculty and staff, their spouses and the spouses of deceased retirees. The organization was formed in 1981 to work through a sixteen member advisory board, in conjunction with a director and support person, appointed by the president of the university, for the benefit of the retirees, their families, the university and the community. The current membership is 540 people.

Mission

  • To provide an opportunity for continued growth of Virginia Tech's retired faculty and staff.
  • To provide program opportunities for Virginia Tech to use talents of retirees to benefit retirees and university.
  • To provide the community with expertise and experience of retirees.
  • To provide a campus "home" to serve as a point of contact at the university for retirees.

Membership Benefits (why YOU should join)

  • Publications; ex. VTRA Newsletter, University Telephone Directory, & Virginia Tech Magazine
  • Seminars and discussion - ex. Changes in health & retirement benefits; tours, etc.
  • Tours – Horticulture Gardens, Transportation Institute, Weather Station, etc.
  • Socials - ex. luncheons & receptions

In addition to the benefits above, all retirees receive the following benefits:

  • $30 per person per year ($60.00 for yourself and spouse)
