Each year, Virginia Tech celebrates the hard work and dedication of its more than 3,500 staff, non-student wage employees, and emergency hires. Staff Appreciation Day was started in 1993 and continues to be held each May on the Wednesday following the university's commencement ceremonies.
This day gives staff an opportunity to tour campus facilities, view demonstrations, compete in friendly competition, and enjoy the company of fellow employees.
On May 17, Virginia Tech celebrated the hard work and dedication of thousands of university staff members during Staff Appreciation Day. With the help of 45 faculty-staff volunteers, employees enjoyed an assortment of activities, such as fitness classes, campus tours, live entertainment, and team competitions. More than 450 employees participated in the campus tours, free massages and fitness classes. The event also included buffet-styled lunch for employees, catered by Personal Touch Catering. The event was held at Owens Hall from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
