23.0 PRE-LAYOFF LEAVE (PLL)

23.1 Purpose
To provide paid leave to an employee who will be placed on leave without pay layoff in order to seek alternate employment in other state agencies or with other employers.

23.2 Guidelines
This applies to classified and university staff. Employees may be full or part-time on a regular or restricted appointment. Pre-layoff leave allows management to continue an employee's compensation for a maximum of two weeks (up to 80 hours) immediately prior to the effective date of layoff (during the layoff notice period).
The leave may be granted in a block or intermittently. The supervisor must approve an intermittent leave schedule in advance.
