Employee Assistance Plan
As part of Virginia Tech’s health care benefit plan, employees who are covered by the university’s health insurance have access to an employee assistance program.
This program offers professional help if you or someone in your family is experiencing:
Getting help is easy, convenient and confidential. An Employee Relations staff member or your immediate supervisor can assist you; or you may call ValueOptions at 1-866-725-0602. Be ready to provide your identification number to verify your eligibility. After a brief discussion of the problem, an appointment with a professional will be scheduled in your home area. The first four visits are at no cost with subsequent appointments charged as co-payments under your health care plan.
NoVA employees may access Optima Health's EAP benefit website here: http://www.optimabehavioralhealth.com/OBH/Members/EAP/EAPOnline/.
Other Counseling Assistance
If you are not covered by the university’s health care plan, the Employee Relations staff will assist you with a referral to counselors in the local community. Some counselors are willing to charge fees based on your income, making counseling affordable for everyone. Some of the resources available in the Blacksburg area are listed below.
