Departments have their own guidelines or standards for attendance. Contact your supervisor for information. The following guidelines apply to all departments.

Absences and Tardiness
If you are going to be late, need to leave early or will be absent, notify your supervisor before the beginning of the work day or as soon as possible. Follow your department’s guidelines.

Failure to comply with university or departmental requirements may result in disciplinary action up to and including dismissal.

Excessive absences and/or tardiness may result in disciplinary action up to and including dismissal.

Leaving the Worksite
Employees must notify their supervisors prior to leaving their designated work area. Leaving the worksite during work hours without prior approval of your supervisor may result in disciplinary action up to and including dismissal.

Unscheduled Absences
Employees should notify their supervisors prior to being absent from work. When it is not possible to avoid an unscheduled absence from work, the employee must notify the supervisor as soon as possible and must follow departmental procedures for notification.

Unauthorized Absences
All absences must be approved by the supervisor. Failure to follow departmental and/or university guidelines and/or procedures when unable to report to work, altering your work schedule or being tardy may be considered unauthorized absence and could result in disciplinary action up to and including dismissal.
