Open Enrollment

Open Enrollment for health care and flexible spending accounts (FSAs) will take place May 1 – 22, 2015 for changes that take effect on July 1, 2015. 

During Open Enrollment, Virginia Tech employees who are eligible for benefits are given the opportunity to enroll in a health plan and/or a flexible spending account, change health plans, add or remove dependents, or waive state health coverage with an effective date of July 1, 2015.

Rates and Plan Changes

The state Department of Human Resource Management will mail copies of the “Spotlight on Your Benefits” newsletter to all state employees the week of April 20. The publication will include all plan benefits and details changes to insurance plans and flexible spending accounts.

Premium Rewards

Employees have the option to reduce their monthly health insurance premiums by participating in the Premium Rewards Program

  • Participants receive a discount of $17 per month. Spouses on the plan are also eligible for a $17 per month discount.
  • Enrollment and participation in an eligible health insurance plan is required to qualify. 
  • Learn more about the Premium Rewards requirements for the 2015-16 plan year. 

Informational Meetings

Open enrollment meetings are open to anyone eligible for health insurance through the state of Virginia, unless otherwise noted below by an *. Employees do not need to use leave to attend any meeting held during the workday.
