Telecommunications Relay Service (TRS) is available to the majority of telephone customers throughout the country. TRS enables specially trained Communication Assistants (CAA) to act as confidential "bridges" between persons using the Telecommunications Devices for the Deaf (TTYs) and regular telephones. The Telecommunications Relay Service operates 24 hours a day. In Virginia, the relay service can be reached by dialing 711.
