Whether you’re a new, veteran, or retired employee, the HR Service Center can help you with all of your human resources needs. Virginia Tech employees in Blacksburg and across the country are encouraged to reach out to the HR Service Center with questions.
Staffed full-time, the HR Service Center ensures that Virginia Tech’s 13,000 staff and faculty located at the main campus in Blacksburg, Va., as well as those at off-campus educational facilities in six regions, a study-abroad site in Switzerland, and a 1,700-acre agriculture research farm near the main campus all have quick, easy, and accurate access to all of the human resources information they need.
The representatives have an extensive knowledge of state and university policies and procedures as they relate to health and life insurance, deferred and defined benefit plans (403(b), 401(a), 457(b)), tuition waivers and reimbursement, and leave. They also have a working knowledge of the Virginia Retirement System, Fidelity and TIAA-CREF programs offered at Virginia Tech. The representatives can also assist employees with questions on programs used by the university, including Banner and PeopleAdmin.
In 2012, the HR Service Center has received an average of 3,600 phone calls, emails, online chats and requests for individual meetings concerning a myriad of HR-related topics each month.
